Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
